On 31 January 2024, ENoMW made a submission to the Special Rapporteur on violence
against women and girls to the Human Rights
Council for the report on prostitution and violence against women and girls. The submission calls for a comprehensive abolitionist model, arguing that it provides greater rights and protections for women in prostitution compared to approaches that liberalise the industry. The submission also addresses various forms of prostitution, including online, forced marriages, and exploitation in refugee camps, emphasising the need for specialised support services and legal frameworks to protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable. Additionally, it criticises misleading terminology and emphasises the systemic denial of humanity in prostitution, concluding that achieving equality between women and men requires dismantling the symbolic violence associated with it.
