The European Commission’s proposal for an EU Talent Pool aims to streamline international recruitment for third-country nationals with skills needed in EU shortage occupations. In our review we highlight key gaps, including the lack of women-specific considerations and inadequate measures to prevent exploitation. Our recommendations emphasise the need for provisions promoting equality between women and men, clear qualification recognition pathways, and robust monitoring mechanisms to safeguard against discrimination and exploitation within the Talent Pool framework.
