Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, women and children have been forced to flee their country and leave everything behind. Faced with this humanitarian disaster that affects a population in a situation of material and sanitary vulnerability, we have decided to commit ourselves to provide concrete support.
CONTEXT
On the 24th of February 2022, the world woke up to the shocking news of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. After eight years of conflict in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, people were already in a catastrophic situation, struggling to get access to their basic needs, living in fear and uncertainty. The COVID19 pandemic added to this chaos, and now, invasion and war have made their situation even more desperate. According to the UNHCR, millions of people, mostly women and children, are now victims of forced displacement. We know that in war and conflict women and girls, are at direct risk of sexual violence and human trafficking, especially on the migration routes. These women need protection, they need food, they need information about their rights, and they need supplies for them and their children: medicines, camping equipment, diapers, menstrual products, and so much more.
This is why we need you!
Since the beginning of the crisis, MaMaMa has been sending trucks to the Ukrainian border in order to provide supplies to those in need. The European Network of Migrant Womenhas produced guides to inform Ukrainian women about their rights as well as the risks of grooming, prostitution and trafficking. Osez le féminisme! is now joining forces to collect funds and enable more guides and supplies to be brought to women fleeing Ukraine.
Food: water, instant food, energy bars and drinks, instant cereals, tea and thermos bottle.
We will enable our Network to produce, print and disseminate more guides for Ukrainian migrant women about their rights, the asylum procedures in different host countries, and how to identify and avoid human trafficking, grooming, and falling into prostitution networks.
We will enable MaMaMa to send more trucks to the Ukrainian borders in order for these supplies and guides to reach the women who need them!
